who’s that girl?

I’m a southern gal living in Harlem, NYC. My first book of poetry, How God Ends Us was chosen as the winner of the 2008 South Carolina Poety Book Prize. It was chosen by Elizabeth Alexander. I am an educator to high schoolers and adult learners. I write poems, prose, plays, novels….I dream big. Come play.

  1. I just came upon your work looking at a notice of an exhibit on Jacob Lawrence and John Browm. I am researching a paper on representations of Brown and I see that you wrote some new poems for the exhibit. Would you be willing to send me the text of any or all that are responses to John Brown? I will of course quote only portions that you would permit and give you full citation. This is for a presentation in January at the Union Institute and University . Hope to hear from you. The poems of yours that I have read on line are remarkable and profound.
